Just Begin

After my daughter’s first 16 months of life, I am finally ready to return to my work! I never truly stepped away from it. However, I had my studio packed up until our recent move. As I set up my new studio space, it now includes a space for Tilley to work as well. We are collaborating. She likes to “improve” my work by adding a scribble here and there. I have recently shared past sketch books with her. She pages through and finds the drawings that need her touch. She likes chalk and oil pastels, watercolor pencils, and painting with a paint brush. We may or may not figure out how to share our process with our community by creating a Momma and Me Art Class.

As for my solo work, I have a large body of small paintings that I have created since moving to Western North Carolina about nine years ago. I am interested to revisit these abstract canvases and add another layer. But first, I want to capture the story they tell now, of my first impressions of life here in WNC, in book form.
